The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) season officially kicked off at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, Sept. 21, and will run until Nov. 2.

The CFC provides federal government employees the opportunity to contribute to various charitable organizations at local, national and international levels. This year, Team MacDill’s goal is 100 percent personnel contact, with the hope of raising more than $80,000.

“There is no minimum or maximum amount in order to donate; every little bit counts,” said Capt. Jeffrey Allen, CFC project officer for the 6th Air Mobility Wing (AMW).

MacDill falls under the Sunshine CFC area, formerly known as Suncoast CFC. This year’s theme is “Show Some Love,” encouraging donators to donate to the many non-profit CFC approved charities. For a full list of charity options, please visit http://www.sunshinecfc.org.

“The CFC is the world’s largest and most successful workplace charity campaign in the U.S.,” said Allen. “It helps raise millions of dollars throughout the country and abroad.”

Donations can be made in cash; however, there is also an option to contribute via monthly allotments, with the donation coming straight from the employee’s payroll.

“The charities you can choose from do not necessarily have to be local to Tampa,” said Allen. “Donors can find charities in their hometowns to pledge to, or even charities on an international scale. The choice is completely up to the donor.”

Last year, the 6th AMW and MacDill’s mission partners raised a combined total of more than $240,000.

“I’ve been in the Air Force over 21 years now and I’ve donated every year,” said Master Sgt. Shawn Tolar, CFC point of contact for the 6th AMW. “I look for charities that help children, cancer research and military affiliated charities. I’ll continue to donate as long as I can.”
