Colonel Kelly M. Martin is the vice commander, 6th Air Mobility Wing, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. As vice commander, she assists the wing commander in leading more than 3,000 people, overseeing base property and capital assets totaling more than $2.8 billion, and controlling an annual budget exceeding $249 million. The wing's overall mission is to provide worldwide air refueling and combatant commander airlift support in addition to the support of Headquarters U.S Central Command, Headquarters U.S. Special Operations Command, and 36 other mission partners that call MacDill home.
Colonel Martin is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. After commissioning, she earned her wings at Vance AFB, Okla. A senior pilot with more than 2,200 flight hours, Colonel Martin has flown KC-135R/T aircraft in support of multiple operations including Panama, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Colonel Martin has served in a variety of flying, staff and command assignments. Her staff assignments include Staff Secretary for National Security Affairs in the Office of the Vice President, Washington D.C. She commanded the 92nd Operations Support Squadron, Fairchild AFB, Wash., and the 477th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron, Sather AB, Baghdad, Iraq. She was most recently the chief, Broader Middle East Division, Operations Directorate, Joint Staff, Washington D.C.
