- Where Do We Provide Tax Assistance? Tax assistance will be provided in the Retiree Activities Office (RAO) at MacDill AFB. (The RAO building is located between the BX and Commissary).
- What can you expect?
The RAO will have specially trained volunteers to assist you with tax returns. Electronic filing will be provided and refunds can be expected within approximately two weeks from the date of filing. If the RAO did not prepare your previous year's tax return, you should bring a copy of the return you filed for that year. The tax assistance program is sponsored by the Staff Judge Advocate and is operated under the supervision of the RAO. Tax preparers are trained under the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program and are certified by the IRS for performance at a level commensurate with most retirees' incomes.
Tax assistance is also available free of charge at the Brandon MacDill Family Resource Center by appointment only.
