A special welcome is in store for all military and DoD retirees at MacDill AFB. You will find that MacDill AFB has great people and great services for your retirement years in the Tampa Bay area.

We have assembled links and information as your first stop for all retiree related information for both Air Force retirees and retirees of other U.S. military branches and the Department of Defense. The 2008 edition of Touching Base, a newsletter for retirees, is available by clicking on the 'Retiree Activities Newsletter' link listed below.

Volunteers needed
Volunteers are needed in a variety of skills and positions to assist in our MacDill AFB community needs. If you have time available to provide assistance to our active duty military, retirees, widows(ers), and dependents; join our volunteer force by contacting the MacDill AFB Volunteer Coordinator at (813) 828-0138. No experience is necessary; training will be provided.

If you have questions concerning problems with your entitlements, contact us at (813) 828-4555 or visit our office, centrally located between the base exchange and commissary, on MacDill AFB.

We also provide comprehensive income tax service. To receive this service call (813) 828-0248 or visit our office on base.

2009 FEDERAL INCOME TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE IN FEBRUARY

Tax assistance will be provided again this coming tax season beginning the first week of February in the Retiree Activities Office (RAO) on MacDill (located between the BX and Commissary).

This service is offered free of charge to retirees, spouses and active duty families.

The RAO will have five trained tax preparation volunteers preparing tax returns. Electronic filing will be provided where refunds can be expected within approximately two weeks from date of filing.

The program is sponsored by the Staff Judge Advocate and is operated under the supervision of the RAO. Tax preparers are trained under the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program and are certified by the IRS for performance at a level commensurate with most retirees' incomes.

Appointments are available, by calling 813-828-0248 or visiting our office on or after January 11, 2010.

Walk-in service will also be available on a first come first served basis during our Operating hours. Active duty personnel in uniform will be given priority over other walk-in customers between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

If the RAO did not prepare your 2009 return, you should bring a copy of the return you filed for that year.

The Brandon MFRC will begin scheduling appointments on Jan 5th. Appointments will be offered for Monday - Friday; 0900-1600 hours, beginning Jan12. Appointments only - no walk-in service is available. Call 813-655-9281 to schedule an appointment.
