MacDill’s ground transportation team is no stranger to distinguished visitor requests. A recent POTUS visit required the team to plan and execute the movement of 12 aircrew ground equipment assets to Tampa International Airport.

“Planning a mission like POTUS support entails ensuring that the local mission is still being accomplished,” said Staff Sgt. Landon Adams, training validation and operations NCO assigned to the 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron. “Most POTUS support requests are last minute so we have to be able to rearrange manpower in order to complete all of the missions we have.”

Due to the many moving parts, the ground transportation team had to coordinate with several teams to include TIA in order to successfully complete the mission.

“Our coordination with the AGE team and the secret service made the task easy to accomplish,” said Adams. “Thanks to the fantastic team that was ready at a moment’s notice we were able to perform above and beyond what was expected and accomplish the mission in a way that leaves no question in the abilities of the wing.”

Mission success is determined by the flexibility of Airmen in the MacDill vehicle operations section.

“No matter what the mission is, these Airmen are goal-oriented, efficient and professional at whatever task is at hand,” said Master Sgt. Joshua Lenz, distribution section chief assigned to the 6th LRS. “It’s all about how outstanding the execution is by our vehicle operators.”

This team answered the call and without error participated in a vital part of the Air Force mission.
