Black History Month Observance

The country flag of Sao Tome and Principe is one of many flags used to decorate for the Black History Month observance luncheon at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., Feb. 27, 2020. Every year during the month of February, Black History Month is celebrated with a different theme. This year’s theme is ‘Honoring the past, securing the future,’ as a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of WWII. African Americans played a tremendous role during these times and helped win the freedom each American enjoys today despite the struggles they faced with their own freedom and equality.
