PHARMACARE PRESCRIPTION FAX POLICY

All faxed prescriptions:
1. Must be legible and they must originate from the doctor's office; not directly from the patient.
2. Must have doctor's printed name, signature, contact information, dea number and/or NPI number on the prescription.
3. Provider's using e-prescribing software need to choose the traditional fax option when submitting faxes to MacDill AFB pharmacy. Please ensure you specify MacDill AFB pharmacy or prescriptions will not get to us.
4. Must include patient's full name, date of birth, phone number, and last four of sponsor's SSN. If this information is not properly provided, it may delay the preparation of your prescriptions.
5. Prescriptions faxed in before noon will be processed and ready for pick up inside the Pharmacare the next duty day after noon. Prescriptions faxed in after noon will be processed and ready for pick up inside the Pharmacare in two duty days after noon.
MacDill AFB Pharmacies cannot be responsible for faxes not received, sent to the wrong pharmacy, illegible prescriptions and for items not on the formulary. Staff will not call the Doctor's office. Provide your provider with a copy of the Formulary and they may contact us at 828-2226.
FAXED PRESCRIPTIONS ARE NOT A PRIORITY.
Note: The change in pick up location: all faxed prescriptions will be processed and picked up inside the Pharmacare lobby. The drive-thru is only for refills called into the automatic refill system.
