Continuing Education
The education center is the one-stop shop for all education related subjects, from certificate programs to CCAF degrees, from tuition assistance to CLEP tests. Classes and assistance is available to prepare individuals for exams such as the Graduate Equivalent Diploma (GED), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and college admission tests.

Educational counseling and advisement services are available to MacDill personnel (military and civilian) and their family members. Residency requirements are waived for military family members within the commuting area. The education center host monthly 'Lunch and Learn' seminars on a variety of topics. The topics range from Veterans Assistance benefits to the ins and outs of tuition assistance.

College

There are several colleges and universities in the Tampa Bay area including state-supported and private institutions. Students may earn anywhere from an Associate's Degree to a law degree. Active duty members, their spouses, and dependents are eligible for in-state tuition rates to Florida public colleges and universities while assigned within Florida. The following is a list opportunities for higher education located on MacDill Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Hillsborough Community College, Saint Leo University and Troy State University.

The Education Services Flight also approves tuition assistance funds for active duty Air Force personnel. Air Force tuition assistance covers tuition cost (not to exceed $250 per credit hour and not to exceed $4500 per fiscal year) for eligible active-duty airmen. Information pertaining to financial aid is available to all personnel. This includes information about degree programs, course requirements, sources of financial aid (Veteran's Educational Benefits, tuition assistance, PELL, etc.), vocational/technical training, colleges and universities, costs, entrance and eligibility requirements, etc.

Testing services are provided for and include college-level examinations (CLEP/DSST), interest tests/inventories, college entrance exams, and proctoring services for the Air Force Institute for Advanced Distributed Learning (AFIADL) and colleges/universities. For college level examinations (CLEP & DANTES) the Education Services Flight also provides Fact Sheets and suggested resources for test preparation. Also, assistance is provided to active duty Air Force members for specific Air Force programs, such as officer commissioning programs, the Community College of the Air Force, and voluntary Professional Military Education programs, such as, SOS, ACSC, and AWC by correspondence or seminar.

MacDill AFB Gate Operation Information

In an effort to expedite processing at all gates, drivers must lower their front and rear windows, and collect IDs/credentials from ALL passengers BEFORE approaching the gate.

Dale Mabry Gate

Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Commercial Lane: 3 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. Monday - Friday& all day on weekends

After hours visitor passes will be issued at Dale Mabry Gate only

 

Bayshore Gate

Monday - Friday: 5:15 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Saturday - Sunday: 7 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

 

Tanker Way Gate (Port Tampa commercial vehicle gate)

*POV traffic* Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. - 9 a.m.

*Commercial vehicle traffic* Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.

NOTE: ALL commercial drivers must use Tanker Way Gate during operating hours.

 

MacDill Gate

Requirements

All vehicle passengers are required to present a picture ID (valid driver’s license, passport, etc.)

If individual is a resident to the country, residency card and social security card must be provided in addition to a valid photo ID

Vehicle drivers must present proof of valid insurance and vehicle registration.

Fleet vehicle: The vehicle is identified by the plates, which shall be of a distinctive color; have the word "Fleet" appearing at the bottom and the word "Florida" appearing at the top. Fleet vehicles are not required to have vehicle registration, but must have proof of insurance.

Personnel must present a bill of lading, invoice, work order, or service call contract, etc., and Point of Contact (POC).
