Air Traffic Control Tower
MacDill Air Force Base Control Tower works closely with Tampa International Airport radar control facilities to provide safe, orderly, expeditious handling of air traffic. Air Force personnel control all arrivals and departures to the MacDill's runway. Controllers provide air traffic services not only military pilots, but to commercial and general aviation pilots as well.
Airfield Management
Airfield Management personnel provides critical support for all base flying agencies. Support consists of, but not limited to, airfield management maintenance, flight planning, customs and agricultural inspections, and the Bird Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) program.
Combat Crew Communications
Combat Crew personnel provide accurate and thorough flight crew publications, communications security documents and equipment for the 6th Air Refueling Wing in support of daily missions and worldwide contingency taskings.
91st Air Refueling Squadron

The 91st Air Refueling Squadron (91 ARS) operates the KC-135R Stratotanker. The KC-135R is a long-range tanker aircraft capable of refueling a variety of other aircraft in mid-air, anywhere in the world and under any weather condition. MacDill KC-135’s have supported US military operations all over the world including refueling coalition aircraft during the war in Bosnia.

The 50th Air Refueling Squadron (50 ARS) operates the KC-135R Stratotanker. The KC-135R is a long-range tanker aircraft capable of refueling a variety of other aircraft in mid-air, anywhere in the world and under any weather condition. The 50th Red Devils were born in Tampa Bay during a time of war in 1942, five years before the Air Force was established, and have been recognized for their meritorious service ever since.
