Due to Hurricane Irma, KC-135s from the 6th Air Mobility Wing on MacDill AFB are evacuating to McConnell AFB, Kansas, beginning Thursday, September 7, 2016.

MacDill aircraft are evacuating as a precaution due to the projected winds and are expected to return to MacDill AFB when conditions are safe.

“The safety of our Airmen and aircraft are paramount,” said Col April Vogel, 6th Air Mobility Wing Commander.

MacDill authorities are in consultation with Hillsborough County officials and are not anticipating an evacuation of MacDill AFB as of 7 September 11:00 a.m. However, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as they become available.
