MACDILL ARI FORCE BASE, Fla.-- In the past eight weeks, approximately 60 soldiers and marines from Ft. Bragg and Camp LeJeune in North Carolina have suffered severe medical signs and symptoms potentially related to vaping of Cannabidiol oil. Symptoms have ranged from confusion to seizures, and complications have resulted in brain death.
CBD oil has been found in a wide range of products from foods and dietary supplements, to vape oils. These products are available online and in many retail stores, including vape shops and health stores. Although CBD oils are a controlled substance under Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, dietary supplements and vape oils are not regulated by any U.S. Federal Regulatory Agency.
These products have gone by the names Black Magic, Black Diamond, YOLO, and Triple-X. There is growing evidence that vaping CBD oil or products marketed as CBD oil may cause severe, sometimes permanent medical effects.
