More than 300 Team MacDill members were given the opportunity to work out with Tony Horton, creator of the P90X workout, Aug. 30 at the Short Fitness Center here.

Team MacDill was given an hour-long taste of Mr. Horton's P90X "warriors' workout" using only their body weight and Mother Earth as their tools.

"A gym isn't needed for most of the exercises in the program," Mr. Horton told the crowd.
"You can do these exercises in your living room."
Senior Airman Tammy Barco, 927th Air Refueling Wing, added, "It's reassuring to know I don't need to sign up for a gym membership or be in a fitness facility to get fit-to-fight."

Mr. Horton is no stranger to military installations. His first workout with servicemembers was at Andrews AFB, Md.

"After my trip to Andrews, I developed a bug for working with the military," said Mr. Horton. "I have conducted workouts with massive groups of servicemembers and heard their great stories of being stronger and more flexible. I am just excited to be part of the solution."

According to Mr. Horton, Team MacDill gave a phenomenal effort in the workout.

"It isn't breezy out here," Mr. Horton smirked. "These guys gave their all today."

Mr. Horton recently finished a trip to Italy visiting military installations, and plans to make a trip to Japan to visit more installations by the end of this year.
