Welcome back Team MacDill! I hope you and your families had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break and are ready for a busy new year. It's a great time to be at MacDill with lots of exciting events planned around the base and in the greater Tampa community. As we start the New Year, we need to stop and examine where we stand and where we want to be as a team. Our 6 AMW team has and will continually strive to be America's Best Wing, To make sure everyone on the team understands where we are going, wing leadership crafted our vision and mission statements late last year. Our statements and the objectives directly support Air Force and AMC priorities while we also support our many mission partners.

We are building on the Air Force and Air Mobility Command 'back to basics' focus as we concentrate our vision and mission on today's tasks. AMC leadership laid out the following major focus areas as the center of our command's 'back to basics' approach.

· Win Today's Fight as part of the Joint/Coalition Force
· Develop and Care for our Airmen and Families
· Enhance Nuclear Mission Support
· Optimize Mobility Partnerships
· Prepare Mobility Forces for the Future

Our wing leadership team has developed a comprehensive plan to align our efforts with AMC's focus areas. Every 6 AMW Airman must understand our plan to support each AMC focus area and missions that are unique to us here at MacDill and their own role in meeting the objectives. To shape and guide our efforts, the 6th Air Mobility Wing has new vision and mission statements.

"America's Best Wing! Precise, Responsive, Trusted...Always!"
Our new vision statement defines what 6 AMW want to be as a team, sets a very high standard for excellence and describes the key attributes we will strive to define.
"Generate and Execute Air Refueling, Airlift, and Contingency Response Capability, While Providing Base Support for Joint, Coalition, Interagency Partners, including USCENTCOM & USSOCOM"

Our new mission statement reflects not only our wartime air mobility mission but our critical role supporting partners here at MacDill. Taken together, these statements will allow our Airmen to understand what they must do and sets a standard of performance we demand and expect every single day.

As we reviewed Air Force priorities and AMC focus areas, wing leadership developed a specific 6 AMW Strategic Alignment and Deployment plan. As part of the wing, you will see the results of this effort in objectives we'll use to improve how we do our mission, take care of our people and support our partners. Some objectives will set standards for improvement, while others will define tasks we must sustain every day. Our objectives are:

I challenge you to evaluate your entire operation, align your efforts with these objectives and continually strive for improvement. Communication up and down the chain of command will make this process work, so I'm looking forward to talking with you next week at my Commander's Call and addressing any of your questions or concerns.
