Volunteers from MacDill Air Force Base, the National Hockey League, Tampa Bay Watch, and Force Blue participate in the creation and placement of oyster shell bags during the Living Shoreline Project at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, Jan. 29, 2026. The effort supports Phase I of the Living Shoreline Supplemental Project, a modification to the original shoreline restoration established in 2003. The oyster shells were donated by local restaurants through the Shells for Shorelines program. This partnership reinforces coastal resilience while offering base personnel opportunities to support efforts that directly impact mission readiness. The living shoreline also serves as a space for recreation and environmental education, benefiting both the installation and the surrounding community.
