On Oct. 17, 2014, Special Operations Command Central hosted the first Army Recruiting Future Soldiers Event at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

It was a three-hour event that consisted of 13 future soldiers from the Orlando Recruiting Company viewing static displays of the various missions that SOCCENT supports along with visiting the parachute riggers where the future soldiersĀ  were able to use a parachute simulator to experience jumping from an aircraft.

"This marked the beginning of a positive change and addition for the Orlando Recruiting Company Future Soldier Program," expressed U.S. Army Staff Sgt. William O. Baker, U.S. Army Recruiter. "The future soldiers were extremely impressed and amazed at the many different tools used to complete the mission SOCCENT soldiers are given."

Following the parachute riggers and the statics, many of the future soldiers had their first Meals Ready to Eat, or MRE, for lunch.

Overall, the event gave future soldiers a glimpse into military life and an idea of what they would possibly experience once they enlisted.

"It opened my eyes to see the multitude of tasks of day-to-day operations and various benefits of being part of such a great team effort," said U.S. Army future soldier Pvt. Aisha Harper.

According to U.S. Army future soldier Pvt. Cody McWhorter, it was a great time shared with all his fellow future soldiers, and he would recommend this to all future soldiers.
