Team MacDill hosted the Band of the West clarinet quartet, the Mission Winds, on Dec. 14 and 15, 2016.

“We spend most of the year engaging with civilian audiences, so we enjoyed giving back to active duty, the Department of Defense workforce and their children,” said Senior Airman Jennifer Daffinee, regional band journeyman assigned to the 502nd Air Base Wing at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.

During their stay, Mission Winds visited the 6th Force Support Squadron military personnel flight, 6th Security Forces Squadron, 6th Medical Group (MDG), 6th Air Mobility Wing headquarters, Tinker K-8, U.S. Special Operations Command, and the maintainers working from Tampa International Airport.

“I greatly appreciated the Band of the West taking time out of their day to come play, their uplifting and cheerful music and presence followed me, as well as others, throughout the workday,” said Capt. Jessica Robbins, group executive officer assigned to the 6th MDG.

The quartet played several holiday selections to include Carole of the Bells, White Christmas, The Nutcracker, Green Sleeves, Jingle Bells, Dreidel and many more.

“The best part of our visit was bringing a little holiday spirit and joy to work centers,” said Daffinee.

The Mission Winds quartet is made up of Master Sgt. Kara Frank, Staff Sgt. Denise Cordova Santos, Daffinee, and Airman 1st Class Da Tang.

The mission of the Band of the West is to honor, inspire, and connect with audiences across the nation through the international language of music.
