Press Release: Limited Evacuation Order

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, FL – MacDill Air Force Base officials are preparing for Hurricane Irma and the 6th Air Mobility Wing Commander has issued an evacuation order of the base as of 12:00 p.m., Sept. 8, 2017. This order applies to all base residents including housing, dormitories, FAMCAMP and lodging.

 

Effective immediately, only mission essential personnel should report to work through Monday, 11 Sept. If unsure whether they should report, personnel should call their supervisor. All MacDill services will cease at  8:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9.

 

As of 12:00 p.m., Sept. 8, residents of MacDill AFB, and any member residing in flood zone A of any county are entitled to evacuation reimbursements. For more information and a briefing of entitlement details, please visit MacDill.af.mil/Hurricane-Information. 

 

MacDill AFB encourages all personnel to stay tuned to local weather channels for updates. In addition, updates for base operations will be available on the MacDill website, MacDill Facebook page and at the Straight Talk Center, 813-828-4163.

 

All personnel assigned to MacDill should evacuate the area and seek shelter at their safe house/haven . Evacuees should bring at least two weeks supply of food, water, clothing, necessary medications and cash with them.
