MacDill Air Force Base and the JAG Corp are committed to providing a timely and effective Legal Assistance program. This is why the Air Force JAG Corps has created a new website for Legal Assistance designed for active duty and reserve component members, retirees and family members.

The Air Force JAG Corps unveiled the new Air Force Legal Assistance Website here, Monday. So the next time documents need notarizing, or a power of attorney done before deployment, visit https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil/. (For some users, this link has not been working. Please copy and paste the link into your browser, which may fix the problem. It may also work to open the link above under "related links" by right clicking and choosing to open the link in a new tab.)

The new website was created to increase efficiency and track client satisfaction with the Air Force legal assistance program. The Air Force JAG Corp has made it a public site so it may be accessed from any computer with internet access. All that is required is a Common Access Card (CAC), and the site is accessible from the convenience of your home. Some of the features the new site offers are:

· Legal Topics: short papers on common legal assistance topics such as wills and family law issues. Along with links to other helpful sites.

· Legal Worksheets: Access to online questionnaires for wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. After completing an online worksheet, the website provides each client a unique "ticket number." Data entered by clients is secure and may be accessed only after clients visit their local legal office and provide their ticket numbers to legal office members.

· Online Survey: Following a visit to the legal office, clients are encouraged to provide feedback concerning the professionalism and helpfulness of the legal professionals.

Many clients visit the MacDill Legal office to obtain a will or other legal document, only to realize after arriving more information or documents are required. Sometimes a client realizes he needs to speak with his spouse or another family member about an issue. Completing an online worksheet helps minimize multiple visits. By filling out an online worksheet, clients are able to consider critical issues online prior to visiting the legal office. When completing a worksheet on-line, the program will provide you with a ticket number to take to the legal office where a paralegal can access your data. This reduces the amount of wait time for the client, information the client needs to bring with them, and allow the legal office to further enhance the MacDill Legal Office Legal Assistance Program.

While the website increases convenience for clients, everyone should note the following:

· Information on the website is for educational and informational purposes only. The website cannot replace consultation with your local JAG, and Airmen should never rely solely on the website when making decisions.

· Clients will not have the ability to print a legal document (will, power of attorney, etc.) from the website. Clients need to visit the legal office and provide a ticket number to obtain the legal documents.

· The website is designed for client convenience, but no one is required to use the website prior to visiting the legal office.

All of us here at the MacDill Legal Office look forward to serving the base and the local community's legal needs, and sincerely hope you find this website helpful. Again, take a look at the website next time a legal need arises, and feel free to visit the legal office during legal assistance hours. We value your feedback concerning the website and the services we provide as we continue to look for ways to better serve you. See you soon - and don't forget your ticket number!
