Medical group introduces MiCare Published Aug. 23, 2012 By 1st Lt. Megan Meenan 6th Medical Group MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 6th Medical Group is excited to offer MiCare, an enhanced way to communicate with your patient-centered medical home team. The MiCare system has been shown to significantly reduce the number of phone calls between patients and providers, increase patient satisfaction and save time for patients and the medical office staff using secure online messaging. The goal is to enroll as many patients as possible in order to maximize the benefits. MiCare affords the ability to access test results, request prescription refills and ask the health care team medical questions via a secure electronic message system. Additionally, there are a multitude of educational opportunities. MiCare provides information on more than 5,000 health topics, 6,000 medication products to include pediatric, adult, women's and senior health, and specialty areas including behavioral health and sports medicine. Most importantly, this information is expressed in an easy and understandable language. Ultimately, these features assist with optimizing your health while respecting your time. To register, visit the 6th Medical Group Family Health Clinic. This visit helps ensure you receive your medical information. Individuals will need to show their military identification card and provide basic information such as their name, social security number, date of birth and email address. A confirmation email will be sent to finish enrollment, then messaging will be ready to begin. MiCare has been implemented Air Force-wide; therefore, wherever the Air Force takes you, you'll remain in the system.
