Lt. Col. Thomas Brown assumed command of the 6th Comptroller Squadron, July 16. He took time out to introduce himself to the MacDill community and answered a few questions from the Thunderbolt.

Thunderbolt: What do you expect of the Airmen under your command?
Brown: No more than what I expect of myself. Integrity first, Service before self, and Excellence in all we do.

Thunderbolt: Who are your favorite leaders and role models and why?
Brown: Those who understand the weight of their stewardship and humbly do the right thing for the right reason as they selflessly serve those whom they lead. My father is a role model of great leadership. In the midst of a disastrous flood, he help sand bag the house of a frantic neighbor before sand bagging his own house that was on lower ground. Crisis reveals the true character of a leader.

Thunderbolt: What does it mean to you to be the new commander?
Brown: The opportunity to serve, to listen more than I talk, and to foster winning teams. Bottom line ... It's not about me, it's about taking care of the people I lead.

Thunderbolt: When you hold your first commander's call what is the first thing you are going to tell your Airmen?
Brown: I'm going to express how much I look forward to joining the 6th CPTS family as we strive to exceed expectations.

Thunderbolt: What are your thoughts about MacDill and living in Tampa?
Brown: I am excited about joining the 6th Air Mobility Wing team and accomplishing the mission. Every day is a great day living in the Tampa area.
