Youth Center Camps

MacDill's Youth Center is known as a hub of fun, activity and education during the summer, and the summer of 2010 is no different. A number of summer camp activities are on the schedule for youths between 6 and 18, and most are at no cost.

From competition and individual sports, to exploring one's artistic side, the slate of summer camps provide great opportunities.

2010 Youth Center summer camps (13-18yrs.)
Teens Social Recreation Camp  June 21-25 from 1 until 4 p.m. In this free camp, teens will learn the proper techniques from a pro bowler. Lunch will be included. Limited space; first come first serve. They will take a minimum of 10 participants with a maximum of 13 participants. Register at the Youth Center June 1-16  from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Tween Outdoor Adventure Camp (9-12 yrs)
This free specialty camp runs from July 12-16, and will give our tweens 101 in horseback riding, teambuilding with low rope course, peer to peer influence with wall climbing, and also a 101 look at wildlife at Florida's state parks. Register at the Youth Center July 1-7 from 10am - 5pm. Limited space; first come first serve. They will take a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 15 participants.
Youth must be able to attend all activities.
- Horseback Riding 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Myakka River State Park-7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (need money for lunch)
- USF Low Ropes Course 9am-1pm (need money for lunch)
- Vertical Ventures-1-4 p.m.
- Outdoor BBQ 1-4pm
 
Teen Outdoor Adventure Camp (13-18yrs)
17-22 July FREE
This free  runs from July 17-22, and will give our teens 101 in water safety, canoeing, team building, and decision making. Register at the Youth Center July 6-14 from 10am-5pm. Limited space; first come first serve. They will accept a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 13 participants.
Teens must be able to attend all activities.
- Canoeing at the Marina 9-1 p.m.
- USF Lower Rope Course
- USF High Rope Course
- Wall Climbing
- Fishing

Destination Imagination (DI) Camp (9-18yrs) 2-6 August FREE
This free camp runs from August 2-6, and provides additional educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. The younger age group will attend in the morning (9-12) and the older age group (13-18) in the afternoon Register at the Youth Center July 19-30 from 10am - 5pm. Limited space; first come first serve. They will take a minimum of 12 participants and a maximum of 35 participants.
