The 6th Air Mobility Wing, in partner with United States Special Operations Command, hosted its third annual Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business and Veteran-Owned Business Technology Conference at the Tampa Convention Center Oct. 28 and 29.

The goal of the conference was to provide a forum for business owners to develop ongoing partnerships between Federal acquisition agencies and the veteran community.

Representatives from various government agencies and business entities will provide a variety of informational sessions focused on the needs of small businesses.

Mr. Ronald Poussard, Air Force Office of Small Business Programs director, was a keynote speaker on the first day of the conference.

"You [small businesses] bring efficiencies to the table that many large companies cannot," said Mr. Poussard. "You bring knowledge and passion to our mission, and you understand what the war-fighter needs."

Mr. Poussard spoke to the forum of small business owners informing them on how they can support the military.

"We should look to this joint forum to see what has to be done today to help you for the future," said Mr. Poussard.

The second day of the conference consisted of a trade fair for SDVOSB companies. It provided an opportunity to view the products and services offered by fellow veterans.

"The conference gave exposure to the SDVOSBs and was a great opportunity for them to network," said Lt. Matthew Comer, 6th Contracting Squadron. "We are looking forward to begin the planning for next year."
