MacDill maintainers show their skills Published Aug. 29, 2007 By Senior Airman Bradley Lail 6th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. -- In the midst of the Operational Readiness Inspection preparation, and day to day operations, the 6th Maintenance Group shows their endurance during the Logistics, Standardization and Evaluation Program inspection. On Monday, the results for the 2007 LSEP inspection were released with a grade of Outstanding. With many months of preparation and countless hours of training, the 6th MXG was eager to wow the inspectors with the compliance. Master sergeant "We focused our efforts on a cross-cutting team-building approach with the rest of the 6th MXG and our partners in the 6th Mission Support Group to ensure success across the board", said Lt. Col. Robert Redding 6th AMXS commander,. Colonel Redding added, "Despite this additional work on top of our already hectic flying and deployment commitments, the Mighty Ducks kept great attitudes and really threw themselves into our efforts". Although everyone in the 6th MXG was graded with an outstanding there were individual Airmen who shined more than others like 6th AMXS maintainer, Senior Airman Erik Jensen. "Everyone gave 110 percent", added Airman Jensen. "It boosted my confidence in how well I perform my job, and achieving an outstanding is a huge morale booster to us all". His individual efforts included zero defects on all his inspectable items. The LSEP was focused on all logistics disciplines within the Maintenance and Mission Support Groups and the inspection team was comprised of 40 personnel, typically master sergeant and above, from across the command, who evaluated all logistics functions, which include aircraft maintenance, supply, vehicle operations, vehicle maintenance and aerial ports if applicable. "I couldn't be any more proud of our Airmen than I am now" said Colonel James Howe, 6th MXG commander. "We are working hard with a lot on our plate; to achieve an "Outstanding" is a testament to the maintenance discipline displayed by our troops in the maintenance group everyday!" Surprised was not a reaction to the outstanding rating from Chief Master Sgt. Denroy Smith, 6th AMXS superintendent,. "It's the MacDill standard, and I would never expect anything else". After three LSEP inspections, Sergeant Smith, an 11 year veteran of MacDill, went on to say "I'm extremely proud of how well the troops did especially with an Operational Readiness Inspection a couple of months from now". "The attitude and professionalism has not waned one bit". Additionally, the 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron was also inspected and they achieved a rating of Excellent with an extremely high score of 94.5 out of a possible 100 points.
