Members with the 33rd Fighter Wing will conduct off-site training at Naval Station Key West, Florida, and MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, Feb. 10 through Mar. 3.

The open airspace and optimal weather conditions at these locations allow pilots with the 60th Fighter Squadron and 58th Fighter Squadron to utilize aerial ranges within minutes after takeoff and avoid the fog delays impacting training during the spring at home station.

“The opportunity for our squadrons, as well as our maintenance and support teams, to perform off station training for several weeks is vital to building combat-credible Airmen,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Jack Arthaud, commander of the 33rd Fighter Wing. “It gives the Nomads time to solely focus on our training mission, practice skills in new environments and build comradery in the units.”

Residents near training locations may experience increased military activity in their area. All training occurs at designated sites and is coordinated with local authorities.
