A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the newly built MacDill Inn at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, May 2, 2016.

Col. Daniel Tulley, the commander of the 6th Air Mobility Wing, cut the ribbon marking the start of the inn's operation.

"The inn was established to create more lodging for temporary duty assignment (TDY) travelers," said Lt. Col. Carina Harrison, the commander of the 6th Force Support Squadron. The inn is collocated with the Davis Conference Center, further improving access to accommodations for TDY individuals.

"It is great that this is the first place travelers will stop after a long journey to get to MacDill," said Tulley. "This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase MacDill's commitment to excellence, with both a world-class view and world-class service."

The process of building the MacDill Inn started March 2013. The inn contains 350 guest rooms covering 202,078 square feet.

Visitors are able to enjoy Rickenbacker's Café, located in the lobby. The café is open from 6 am to 10 pm, seven days a week. "Brews of the Bay," the bar alongside the café, opens at 3 pm daily.

MacDill Inn is located at 7637 Bayshore Blvd., Bldg 350. For further information regarding the inn, please call 813-828-4259.
