MacDill Celebrates Retiree Appreciation Day

Team MacDill celebrated Retiree Appreciation Day on Feb. 11, 2016, with services and events scheduled throughout the day at of MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Retiree Appreciation Day is about giving back to those who have served and continue to serve the military as volunteers.

"We are the greatest nation on Earth and that is because of your service," said Col. Jennifer Crossman, vice commander of the 6th Air Mobility Wing. "We know we stand on the shoulder of giants because of the path that you have blazed before us."

Attendees visited base offices throughout the day, and were provided the opportunity to update their knowledge regarding benefits and entitlements.

Some of the services offered were updating immunizations, blood pressure checks, making an official will at the legal office, and I.D. card renewal.

"The Retiree Activities Office (RAO) also provided free tax services to all retirees, and has done so since 1996," said retired Col. Billy Graham, director of the RAO.

The RAO is located between the Commissary and Base Exchange, and continues to offer walk-in tax services Monday thru Friday starting at 8:30 a.m.
