Starting Feb. 15, the Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) is hosting the "Walk Your Booty Off" pedometer challenge at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

The challenge is open to everyone and upon registration participants will receive a tracker, New You diet instructions and a pedometer.

"The purpose of this challenge is to get everyone motivated to increase their physical activity and be more conscious of the type of foods and the amount they are eating," said Joan Craft, the flight commander of the HAWC. "We want to make this fun, but yet instill a behavior change that incorporates a healthy lifestyle."

According to Craft, the HAWC conducts two to three pedometer challenges each year and boasts over 400 participants.

"We change the theme and offer different motivational incentive prizes as well," said Craft. "The idea is to add some excitement, keep the interest going and help people achieve their goals in a positive way."

For this challenge, various free prizes will be offered to those who track 300,000 or more steps, to include a $100 Commissary gift card or one of 25 mystery booty bags. Additionally, participants will be offered a free t-shirt once they've turned in their tracker.

The challenge is scheduled to conclude on March 13.
