Team MacDill focused on Comprehensive Airman Fitness during the bi-annual Wingman Day August 17, 2015, at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

CAF is comprised of the mental, physical, social and spiritual aspects of life. During this Wingman Day, MacDill focused on the physical and social aspects.

The day began with a flightline 5K run, in which Airmen of the 6th Air Mobility Wing participated, and ended with small discussion groups focused on those two aspects.

"Airmen need to appreciate their diversity and strengths; understand and accept their responsibilities as Wingman and deliberately exercise the Air Force core values," expressed Lt. Gen. Brooks Bash, Air Mobility Command vice commander. "We continue to emphasize Airman's personal responsibility to take care of each other."

Throughout the Air Force, Wingman Day is held a minimum of twice a year in order to help reduce negative behaviors, improve overall mental health, and increase social and spiritual connections along with personal resiliency.

The desired outcomes are to influence total force Airmen to take responsibility by doing the right thing at every opportunity, and accept the Wingman role that represents a deliberate act of preserving the core values.

In addition, it gives Airmen the opportunity to get to know their fellow Airmen well enough to help each other when needed, and gain an understanding of how valuing diversity enhances the overall mission.

"I enjoyed the opportunity to work on team building with my fellow airmen and focus on other aspects on life that enables us to be fit for duty," expressed Senior Airman Ashlee Sandefur, 6th AMW administrator. "Wingman Day also creates a stress-free environment for us to socialize with airmen you don't get to on a day to day basis."
