The 6th Civil Engineering Squadron is projected to continue their efforts in extending the life and function of Hangar 1 in May 2015, at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

In 2014, the historic aircraft hangar reached its 70-year life expectancy, which required the exterior siding, windows and doors to be replaced along with the roofing, paint, and the pavement repaired.

A new $2.8 million project was awarded in September 2014 to continue the reconstruction process. New paint will be installed, the shops will be realigned to function more efficiently, and the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning system will be rebuilt.

"The project will result in our Airmen having much better working conditions and will increase shop productivity," said Michael Cooley, 6 CES chief of programs.

The project is scheduled to be completed in February 2016.
