The philosophy is simple: be deliberate, effective, and ensure flawless execution.  This is how 6th Air Mobility Wing Commander Col. Daniel Tulley unveiled Team MacDill's new way forward at an "all call" with base personnel.

The highlight of each of the five Commander's Call sessions was the release of the Wing's new strategic priorities, and the unveiling of a clear and concise new vision statement.

The Vision: Deliberate Excellence

"Deliberate means we will make things happen, rather than merely let or hope they happen:  we plan ahead, we are reactive only when it is unavoidable, and we seek to be strategic in our approach, rather than always rushing to put out fires," stated Tulley. "Excellence is a core value we internalize, a standard to which we hold ourselves and others accountable, and an expectation we have for results."

How is this accomplished?

This is accomplished by getting it right the first time - every time, holding oneself and others accountable, and continually striving for improvement and better results. The internal focus is to empower Airmen and leaders at all levels to push decisions to the lowest possible level and to produce tangible outcomes.

The Priorities: 1. Be ready now; 2. Reconcile requirements with resources; 3. Build teams and leverage partnerships; and 4. Flawless execution.

According to Tulley, readiness enables the achievement of excellence; Proper use of resources develops our Airmen, strengthens our families, and invests in the betterment of our culture; Building teams and partnerships bridges gaps and enables seamless execution and shared mission success; Flawless execution  shows professionalism, bearing, and dedication to a cause.

"Teamwork and partnerships are vital to our shared mission sets, our supported and supporting roles, and our connections to our community," explained Tulley. "Our partnerships must be value‐added based on clear criteria. We understand the importance of relationships, yet recognize the critical differences between personal relationships and organizational partnerships. We must work to establish shared direction, alignment and commitment."

Additionally, to link strategy with execution, Tulley had each group commander from the Wing give a detailed breakdown explaining how each organization fits into MacDill's mission of "Rapid Global Mobility...Unmatched Installation Support."

Concluding his explanation of the new 6 AMW strategy and vision, Tulley made sure to let everyone know he has 100 percent confidence in each and every MacDill Airman.

"In your hands this wing is capable of truly amazing things," expressed Tulley. "Thanks for all you do."
