The Staff Sgt. Release Party

MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --  Once again the list has been released, on July 10, announcing the new staff sergeant selects for the 2014 year.

To commemorate the selectees' achievement, Network 5/6 at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. put on an event known as the Staff Sergeant Release Party in the base theater.

The purpose of this event was to highlight the achievement, acknowledge the selectees, and just give them an opportunity to celebrate and socialize. Everyone was invited to come out and support the staff sergeant selectees.

"The release party is a very important part of our culture because it is critical to recognize the Airmen's accomplishments; specifically, selection for promotion," said Tech. Sgt. Dustin Maglinti, Network 5/6 president.

A ceremony was held to recognize each selectee and award them with a medallion containing the staff sergeant chevron, their name and sequence number for their achievement.

"I felt like a celebrity," said Senior Airman Arquilla Price III, 6th Medical Operations Squadron aerospace medical technician and staff sergeant selectee. "Being able to rub shoulders with fellow NCOs who have been in the position that we are in, really showed the strength of how strong the Wing and NCO tiers really are."

Following the ceremony, the selectees were given food, drinks, and cake.

"It's great to see NCOs and Officers congratulating all the selectees from the base and not just the Airmen in their units," said Maglinti. "The promotion party is the perfect place to do just that."

Senior Airman Price had further comment on expressing his thoughts after the ceremony.

"This was a great networking opportunity for us to build professional and personal relationships with fellow selectees across the wing as we enter the next phase of our careers," said Price.
