Being Thankful Published Nov. 24, 2015 By Col. Daniel Tulley 6th Air Mobility Wing commander MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Team MacDill, As you prepare plans to gather with family and friends and celebrate this holiday season, I encourage you to reflect on how much we can be thankful for. Holly and I appreciate the sacrifices you and your loved ones continue to make for our Air Force and your continued service and commitment to our great country. Each and every one of you represents an integral part of this team and are an indispensable part of our United States Air Force. It is because of you and your families' commitment and sacrifices that Americans across the country are able to gather around their dining room tables and partake in the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. But, let us not forget about the Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen who are unable to be home for this holiday. We ask that you hold all of our deployed service members in your hearts and remember them and their families this holiday season. Their sacrifice is both noble and necessary to ensure our great nation can live in peace and security. As you enjoy more pie, or another turkey leg, remember to not let alcohol, poor weather, or fatigue prevent you from reaching your destination this year. Please enjoy this time, but continue to incorporate a safety mindset during this holiday season. Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity to work with such a remarkably supportive community. Holly and I are extremely grateful for the friendship you have shown to our Airmen. We know how lucky we are to live in a community that cherishes the military and for that we give thanks. It is an honor and a privilege to work beside you for the enrichment of our community. I am tremendously proud of the men and women of MacDill Air Force Base and I'm grateful to be able to serve with you. Holly and I wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving.
