MacDill gives blood
Julia Newell, Florida Blood Services donor systems, prepares to withdraw blood from Rachel Dawson, United States Special Operations Command training requirements, at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., on Mar. 7, 2013. Each donor gave a pint of blood, which is then processed and broken down into three components: red cells, platelets and plasma. The average time to make a donation is 45 minutes.
