MacDill Coalition Internatioal Night

John Maafu from Kingdom of Tonga slices a whole roasted pig to serve during Coalition International Night held here in Hangar 1, Dec. 16. This year’s event marks the 5th anniversary of the annual tradition that allows military members and families to become more familiar with various native cuisines, customs and dress of the 63 different countries represented in the U.S. Central Command Coalition Village. During this event many Coalition members and their families volunteered to cook some of their countries favorite or famous cuisines to share. The event ended with the United States Central Command commander, Gen. David Petraeus, giving a thank you speech to all those who came out. The Kingdom of Tonga is in the South Pacific Ocean and consists of 71 islands, 48 of them inhabited. The islands lie south of Samoa, about one-third of the way from New Zealand to Hawaii.
