MacDill's Base retreat
Colonel Jon Klaus, Commander 6th Operations Group, executes "Present, ARMS" during the installation retreat ceremony Dec.10 at MacDill's memorial park. When the flag is completely folded, only the blue field should be visible and it should be folded in the triangular shape of a cocked hat. The retreat ceremony serves a twofold purpose which is signaling the end of the official duty day and serves as a ceremony for paying respect to the United States flag. MacDill AFB instruction 36-2203 mandates the ceremony will be held every second Wednesday. This instruction applies to all 6th Air mobility wing subordinate units and staff agencies assigned to MacDill. The monthly retreat ceremony is an esprit de corps program to foster teamwork and pride in the 6 AMW and to publicly display our respect for the flag of the United States of America.
