16th annual Helton Hall 5K run medals are displayed at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, Sept. 8, 2025. 1st Lt. Joseph D. Helton Jr., 6th Security Forces Squadron assistant operations officer, extended his deployment from Det. 3 to Det. 2 of the 732d Expeditionary SFS in August 2009. Helton died Sept. 8, 2009 by an improvised explosive device on his 44th outside-the-wire mission in the Mahmudiyah District of Baghdad.
