  • USCENTCOM’s Founding Fathers gather for 40th anniversary

    U.S. Central Command’s former Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force pioneers reunited at MacDill AFB March 2-3, 2020 to recognize the joint task force’s 40th anniversary. The joint task force was created March 1, 1980, in response to the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Iranian Hostage Situation and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and originally consisted of 261 personnel.
  • USCENTCOM hosts 100 MacDill AF IMAs

    More than 100 Air Force Reserve Airmen gathered at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, April 26-27, 2018 for a U.S. Central Command Individual Mobilization Augmentee assembly. In celebration of U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 70 years of service, IMA Airmen from USCENTCOM, U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command Central, and the 927th Air Refueling Wing shared professional military education opportunities, offered mentorship and fostered networking capabilities.
  • MacDill 6th CPTS to process thousands of vouchers after Irma

    As personnel evacuated MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, to escape Hurricane Irma, 12 Airmen assigned to the 6th Comptroller Squadron elected to stay behind to process advances on travel vouchers for junior enlisted service members who had not received their government travel cards. Between Sept. 8 and 9, 2017, nearly 3,000 on-base residents evacuated MacDill AFB due to weather projections forecasting that Hurricane Irma may directly impact the Tampa Bay area, which would be the first time since the 1921 Tampa Bay Hurricane.
