6/18/2007 - MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.  -- Getting in and out of MacDill via the Dale Mabry Gate will be a bit more difficult, but it's all for a good cause, as work continues to improve security, safety and traffic flow at base entry control facilities.

Construction began June 11, when a temporary traffic plan went into effect until July 8. Expect long delays during peak traffic hours. When traffic patterns return to normal, expect minor delays until the project is completed Sept. 1.

A variable message will be posted on Dale Mabry Highway north of Interbay Boulevard reading: "Gate construction 6/11 to 7/8, expect delays."

Dale Mabry Gate (Open 24 hours)
The following temporary traffic is effective now and will continue until inbound lane construction at the Dale Mabry Gate is complete.
5 to 9 a.m. Inbound traffic only
9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Inbound and outbound with inbound lanes rerouted beginning at round-about
7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Inbound and outbound with inbound lanes available through the gate

The Tanker Way Gate will remain open during regular hours 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for commercial vehicles and 5:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday. The Tanker Way Gate is closed on Sunday.

Hartline bus traffic
During the construction at the Dale Mabry Gate, Hartline buses that use the gate will utilize the Tanker Way Gate to enter the base between 5:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend Hartline bus routes may continue to enter through the Dale Mabry Gate. Hartline buses may exit through the Dale Mabry, the MacDill or the Bayshore gates.
