USAF Honor Guard Emblem

Dating back to 1976, the emblem of The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard is composed of crossed M-1 rifles silhouetted over a gold and silver Roman helmet. The emblem is complete with a scarlet red horsehair festoon on a field of ultramarine blue with the attached organization motto. The color for the lettering of the organizational motto is gold. The Roman helmet is symbolic of the Praetorian Guard of the Roman Empire. This elite unit was charged with protecting emperors. The red festoon denotes courage and valor. The silver gray of the helmet proper is represents the excellence expected of U.S. Air Force Honor Guard personnel. The crossed rifles denote The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard's primary weapon. The ultramarine blue background symbolizes the primary theater of Air Force operations - the sky and beyond. The attached motto, "To Honor With Dignity" best describes the elite mission of The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. In accordance with Chapter 3 of AFI 84-105, commercial reproduction of this emblem is NOT permitted without the permission of the proponent organizational/unit commander.

MacDill AFB Honor Guard

The 6th Force Support Squadron manages the MacDill AFB Honor Guard program for the 6th Air Refueling Wing Commander. These handpicked professionals render military funeral honors for active duty, retiree, and veteran members who have served honorably in the United States Air Force, Army Air Force, Army Air Corps, and Women’s Air Forces. Additionally, the honor guard provides support to military ceremonies honoring distinguished guests, change of commands, retreats, retirements, parades, and other appropriate community events attended by the general public. The mission of the MacDill AFB Honor Guard is to represent every Airman by providing top-notch, professional military support to the base, Tampa Community and surrounding areas with honor and dignity.

Colors Request Form

(NOTE: The MacDill Air Force Base Honor Guard must support all Congressionally-mandated Air Force Military Funeral Honors. COLORS requests are considered a secondary function of the Honor Guard. This includes, but is not limited to, community and official requests for colors presentations, flag folds, memorial services, and/or parades. There is a possibility that manning will not allow for MacDill Air Force Base honor guard to support your request and you may receive a cancellation notice as little as 12 hours prior to the event.)

Area of Responsibility

The Honor Guard is responsible for the largest Area of Responsibility in Florida, covering 19 counties, approximately 17,504 square miles, starting at Lake George in the north and running south to Key West. The Honor Guard supports joint partners Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard.

Commercial Lane: 3 p.m. - 5:30 a.m. Monday - Friday& all day on weekends

Bayshore Gate

Monday - Friday: 5:15 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Saturday - Sunday: 7 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Tanker Way Gate (Port Tampa commercial vehicle gate)

*POV traffic* Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. - 9 a.m.

*Commercial vehicle traffic* Monday - Friday: 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Requirements

All vehicle passengers are required to present a picture ID (valid driver’s license, passport, etc.)

If individual is a resident to the country, residency card and social security card must be provided in addition to a valid photo ID

Vehicle drivers must present proof of valid insurance and vehicle registration.

Fleet vehicle: The vehicle is identified by the plates, which shall be of a distinctive color; have the word "Fleet" appearing at the bottom and the word "Florida" appearing at the top. Fleet vehicles are not required to have vehicle registration, but must have proof of insurance.

Personnel must present a bill of lading, invoice, work order, or service call contract, etc., and Point of Contact (POC).
