MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 6th Communications Squadron (CS) welcomed family and friends to their first annual “bring your family to work” day at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida July 27, 2016.
Major Reynaldo Champion, the 6th Communications Squadron Commander kicked off the day with a short briefing to the families before the typical weekly briefing held for the 6th CS.
“What these Airmen are doing every day is a huge support to the 6th CS and the 6th Air Mobility Wing,” said Champion.
The day then continued with a family photo and squadron tour.
Tech. Sgt. Jeffrey Selonke, radio frequency transmissions systems section chief assigned to the 6th CS and an event organizer, said families were briefed by 16 different sections during the tour and that it helped demonstrate how busy the Airmen were.
Following the tour, the groups attended a potluck at the chapel.
“The afternoon was about bringing families together and showing them what services were offered to them,” said Selonke. “We brought out the Force Support Squadron, the Airman and Family Readiness Center, and our key spouses to try and help us build a better support system.”
The 6th CS received a huge amount of support from Team MacDill.
“Because of the success of this event we are going to start planning for next year…,” said Selonke. “We are looking at doing it either semi-annually or annually in the future.”
