MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Airmen worldwide celebrated the Air Force's 66th birthday with many different celebrations.

At MacDill, Airmen entering the dining facility were met by the smell of birthday cake, the sounds of birthday greetings, and the site of birthday decorations.

Smiling servers handed Airmen pieces of cake as they wished the Air Force a happy birthday.

But, some Airmen may wonder why it is important to celebrate the Air Force's birthday.

Celebrating the birthday of the youngest armed force means looking into the past to see where we have come from but also looking forward to the future of where we will go.
