    Mobility Airmen from the 6th Air Refueling Wing demonstrated their readiness to deploy forces and equipment to deliver rapid global mobility in a moment’s notice during an operational readiness exercise conducted Jan. 11-22.

Over the course of five days, Aircrews with the 91st Air Refueling Squadron, maintainers with the 6th Maintenance Group and Airmen with the 6th Operations Support Squadron teamed with Airmen assigned to Shaw AFB in order to bolster each unit’s full-spectrum readiness capabilities.

    Airmen from the 6th Air Refueling Wing traveled to Shaw AFB to conduct an integrated training to increase MacDill’s capabilities to deliver air refueling support in contested environments.

    Aircrews with the 91st Air Refueling Squadron, maintainers with the 6th Maintenance Group and Airmen with the 6th Operations Support Squadron along with four KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, are scheduled to travel to Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina, at the end of November to conduct an integrated training exercise with the 20th Fighter Wing.
  • Spill response team protects environment

    MacDill’s role in the environment isn’t taken lightly, and the base continually stresses the importance of keeping the environment clean. To ensure the base complies with all environmental laws and regulations, MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida has developed the Environmental Element Flight which includes the spill response team.
  • Team MacDill conducts FOD walk following Tropical Storm Eta

    On Nov. 13, Team MacDill Airmen conducted a foreign object and debris walk to clear foreign material from the flight line. FOD walks are conducted routinely to clear the flight line of foreign objects and debris to prevent aircraft damage.
  • MacDill, 6th ARW echoes CSAF’s message

    During a commander’s call at the base theater, Nov. 6, 2020, Col. Benjamin Jonsson, the 6th Air Refueling Wing commander, doubled down on an important Air Force message and call to action. “We need to foster urgency and excellence to accelerate change in order to deter adversary powers that have outpaced paced us with their technology and capability advancements in recent years,” said Jonsson.
  • Military & Family Readiness Center re-opening its doors

    The Military & Family Readiness Center at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, is scheduled to re-open its doors, Nov. 2 for all services and programs. Since March 2020 the M&FRC, as well as many other 6th Force Support Squadron facilities and programs have been limited to minimal in-person interaction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Demonstrating rapid global mobility; MacDill completed base exercise

    The 6th Air Refueling Wing, working hard to ensure we are able to fulfill our mission goals, just completed a generation exercise. This was aimed to demonstrate our capability to perform our duties and deliver global mobility readiness, even during a global pandemic.
