  • Demonstrating rapid global mobility; MacDill completed base exercise

    The 6th Air Refueling Wing, working hard to ensure we are able to fulfill our mission goals, just completed a generation exercise. This was aimed to demonstrate our capability to perform our duties and deliver global mobility readiness, even during a global pandemic.
  • Honoring the heritage of the Fighting Sixth week 5

    This year marks the 100th anniversary of the unit presently designated the 6th Air Mobility Wing. The 6th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing became the 6th Air Base Wing, finding a home at MacDill AFB, Fla., in 1994. The departure of the 56th Fighter Wing’s F-16 Fighting Falcons in the early 1990s left MacDill’s flightline vacant for the first time in its history. Once activated as an Air Base Wing, the Sixth assumed management of the combatant command support mission on behalf of the Air Force.
  • 153rd AW, 6th CES extinguish fires together

    Eighteen Air National Guard firefighters from the 153rd Airlift Wing in Cheyenne, Wyoming, visited MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, to participate in a joint-training exercise with 6th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighters, March 4-7. The joint firefighting training emphasized repelling and technical rescue skills, fire ground tactics, fire suppression, live-fire drills, vehicle extrication and aircraft familiarization.
  • MacDill’s 2018 Military Youth of the Year

  • 6th Air Mobility Wing Airmen fuel Emerald Warrior 2019

    MacDill Airmen from the 6th Air Mobility Wing participated in Emerald Warrior 2019, a U.S. Special Operations Command sponsored total, joint tactical warfare training exercise, Jan. 14 to 25. During the two-week training exercise, 50th and 91st Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft and aircrew, 6th Force Support Squadron lodging and 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron fuel and vehicle operator Airmen from MacDill AFB supported Emerald Warrior’s training events.
