  • Military & Family Readiness Center re-opening its doors

    The Military & Family Readiness Center at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, is scheduled to re-open its doors, Nov. 2 for all services and programs. Since March 2020 the M&FRC, as well as many other 6th Force Support Squadron facilities and programs have been limited to minimal in-person interaction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • MacDill’s Short Fitness Center reopens for active duty, Guard and Reserve

    The doors of MacDill’s Short Fitness Center reopened on Aug. 19 to active duty, Guard and Reserve personnel after five months due to COVID-19. Under MacDill’s “Keep it Safe, Keep it Open” campaign, Airmen from the 6th Force Support Squadron sterilized the fitness center facility so service members could have a safe space to conduct their physical workouts and maintain their warfighting readiness.
  • MacDill’s newest commanders: ready to lead despite COVID-19

    The month of June marked the beginning of the change of command season for MacDill AFB, with six Air Force leaders stepping into new command positions at the squadron level, and two assuming roles as group commanders. The change of command ceremony is a deeply rooted military tradition, with symbolism that can be traced back to the 18th century. However, just as the operating environment of the Air Force has been forced to shift because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so too did the procedures of how new commanders are welcomed into their new assignments.
  • MacDill’s Youth of the Year competing at bigger stage

    Each year, MacDill Air Force Base’s youth center and the Boys and Girls Club of America nominates one motivated military child between the ages of 14 and 18 as their Youth of the Year. This year's winner, 2020 high school graduate Emmanuel Washington, not only took home the prize of being MacDill’s distinguished youth, but also was awarded the Florida Military Youth of Year.

  • MacDill Youth Center staying connected during social distancing

    While office closures and social distancing are keeping service members on MacDill Air Force Base away from their work centers and daily routine, many have turned to teleworking and conferencing to accomplish necessary tasks. MacDill’s Youth Center is using social media outlets and Zoom conferencing to maintain relationships with military connected youth.

    The Military Child Education Resource Fair jump-started military families into the school year by providing free school supplies and family support during the annual Back to School Info Fair at MacDill Air Force Base, Aug. 3, 2019.
  • 6th FSS named best in AMC

    The 6th Force Support Squadron was recognized as Air Mobility Command’s nominee for the Gen. Curtis E. LeMay award for best large installation-level force support squadron of the year for 2018. The award recognizes leadership, customer service, support and quality-of-life programs provided to joint military members and their families.
  • 6th Air Mobility Wing Airmen fuel Emerald Warrior 2019

    MacDill Airmen from the 6th Air Mobility Wing participated in Emerald Warrior 2019, a U.S. Special Operations Command sponsored total, joint tactical warfare training exercise, Jan. 14 to 25. During the two-week training exercise, 50th and 91st Air Refueling Squadron KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft and aircrew, 6th Force Support Squadron lodging and 6th Logistics Readiness Squadron fuel and vehicle operator Airmen from MacDill AFB supported Emerald Warrior’s training events.
