"Champa Boom"
Airman Champa Boom serves as the official mascot of the 6th Air Refueling Wing, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. Born on November 8, 2000, in the Tampa Bay area, Champa embodies the championship spirit of the region, with his name derived from a fusion of “Tampa” and “Champion,” paired with “Boom” to honor the critical refueling boom used in aerial refueling operations. As an E-2 boom operator for the KC-135 Stratotanker, and soon the KC-46 Pegasus, he represents the wing’s mission of providing core aerial refueling capability, enabling global reach for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and allied aircraft.
